It’s that time of year again where numerous resolutions or goals are set and the quest begins for making it the “best year yet” or that “new year, new you” blah blah begins to unfold across your marketing platforms of social media.
For some, the turn of the year is a marked space of reflection and a great place in which to “wipe the slate clean” and go again, creating something that has been perceived as limiting or in need of change from the time before the clock struck 12 and big ben chimed its commencement to the crowds to sing “Auld Lang Syne”.
Likewise, we see this on many-a-Monday mornings - that chance to start the week again, new, fresh and “this time” going to “do it”.
But what if, in 2023, we were able to recognise that our “pursuit of purpose” was to see that those “resolutions”, “goals”, and “Fresh Mondays” are open to us each and every day?
Of course, those ways of thinking and being are always there, and I am not telling you anything new here. But I guess what I am challenging you with is how much energy and effort you placed in that knowledge, in just being present, in being in the moment, in spending time as a spiritual essence experiencing this thing we call life?
What if, this year, rather than being “better” than previous versions/years of yourself, you were able to connect with the idea that the “better” comes from the daily pursuit and daily purpose of TRULY BEing - a HUMAN BEing and not ALWAYS DOing…..
What does that mean to you?
One of the greatest moments at the end of last year was talking with friends about Christmas gifts. This past year we decided that rather than give presents, we would BE present - with each other. Our “presents” were “presence”. And oh how beautiful that gift was and will continue to be!
Imagine if you were able to give yourself that gift - to pursue the purpose of presence in your life and in the lives of those around you. How different would your life be a year from now?
And the beauty of it all is that you get that reset every single moment of your life. It doesn’t need to wait until 2024 or beyond. It doesn’t need to wait until Monday. It can just be in this moment, right now. It doesn’t bring with it the “kicking yourself” when you have fallen off the wagon, or the “I’ve failed” or “I’ve done it, now what?” moments.
Because it is forever evolving, forever giving, forever changing, forever bigger than ANYTHING we could set ourselves up for and so as soon as we DECIDE to focus on this element of just BEING and practising PRESENCE we open up our minds, hearts and souls to so much more. It holds a space for reflection, for gratitude, and for growth and connection with who you truly are.
In a world that is conflicted in so many ways, in a space and time whereby people are struggling, and that might even include you reading this, the gift of PRESENCE is free to give and priceless to receive - whether that be you giving that to yourself OR you giving that presence to the ones you choose to give that to.
I am truly excited for the year ahead and to support people with this area of their lives - whether that be personally, professionally or both. That is why this month I have set up a 3-Month group programme called ‘Symphony of the Soul’. This is based on soulful connection, soulful energy, and soulful growth - all supporting people to just BE!
I appreciated that some of you reading this might be struggling with ANY of what I have written, and that is totally okay. It might be that the above words has resonated with you, BUT you are unsure where to start - if either of those are you and you want to connect, feel free to reach out and we can grab a cuppa or virtual cuppa https://www.kerryhearsey.com/begin or likewise if you want to know more about “Symphony of the Soul” give me a shout!
As for today, here is hoping you slow down, pause, and take a moment to just BE - and BE totally okay with just BEing in 2023!
